Today is the National Day of Prayer 2017. This day is significant for many reasons but the one that clearly will be remembered is this is the day that the president of the United States officially recognizes that all pastors in America deserve free speech just like any other citizen. Unlike any other citizen, hundreds of thousands of Christian leaders have been LEGALLY restricted in what they could talk about from the pulpits for over 50 years. Historically, pastors were the public moral voice in society. That slowed to crawl after the Johnson Amendment took hold in the 1950’s. And look at where basic morality in society has evolved to, in the last 50 years. The two videos below are important because the first one is the best explanation I’ve ever seen of the Johnson Amendment by Pastor Jim Garlow of Skyline church in San Diego, CA. I produced it with him about 5 years ago. The second video was done from pastor Jim’s iphone yesterday in the White House. Today, president Trump will sign an executive order that brings presidential power to restoring free speech and religious freedom back to pulpits in the United States. These videos show that prayer and persistence bring fundamental change in the way government works. Please watch and learn about the Johnson Amendment and how religious freedom works from the pulpit.
